A lesson for your classroom will automatically be created when you create a Unit Plan. Lessons are located at the bottom of the Unit Plan and will be laid out as weekly lessons or sequential lessons depending on the template you selected in the Unit Plan Set-up.
How is the Weekly or Sequential lesson template used?
- Weekly lesson template - You normally use a day by day Lesson Sequence for reading, writing and mathematics, or any subject where you are planning work each day at a particular time for a class or groups. You can plan for several weeks, Monday through to Friday.
- Sequential lesson template - you normally use a day by day Lesson Sequence for reading, writing and mathematics, or any subject where you are planning work each day at a particular time for a class or groups. You can plan for several weeks, Monday through to Friday.
How should I use each section of the lesson template?
You can use the fields Weekly Planner, Teacher Notes and Next Steps in any way that suits you. Many people use them in these ways.
- Learning Outcome – this click and build field holds thousands of pre-written Learning Outcomes for Mathematics and English, all filtered to the level of your plan and your groups. You can also add your own so that you can simply click and add to your plans.
- Add Lesson - you can write the concept of the lesson here.
- Next Steps – When you have completed your lesson, you can write your formative assessment notes, how it went and what you want to do next here.
Quick Tips
- Add multiple lessons in one week (weekly template only) - At the bottom of your lessons you will see a blue button Add Lesson +, click on this to open a pop-up where you can select either your classroom or groups.
- Add resources to a lesson - In each lesson section you will see a paper clip icon which opens your Filebox. This will display any resources you have previously used in iUgo or you can upload new resources. In this pop-up you can also view Teachables and browse a library of educational content for students. Click on the Google Docs icon if you need to link a resource from your Drive.
- Changing the order of lessons (weekly template only) - each lesson displays a grey bar which shows the class group name, copy, clear, delete and an arrow. By clicking on the arrow you can move your lesson up and down.
- Lesson labels (sequential template only) - Create a title or label for your lesson by clicking on the words Lesson plan (1) which displays in a grey bar at the top of the lesson. A text box will open where you can type on your label, then click save (2).
